Early Head Start provides services to children from birth to 3 years old and their families including services to expectant mothers.
Head Start provides preschool services to children ages 3 to 5 years old and their families.
Center-Based Option
Head Start ensures the ability to measure progress for both center-based and home-based children, from birth to 5 years old.
Services are provided in a school setting. SETA has various Early Learning Centers located throughout Sacramento County. Services range from part-day or full-day. On-site Teachers, Family Services Workers, and Social Workers provide primary services. Center based programs operate on a traditional 9 month schedule and year–round 12 month schedule.
- Part-Day Option – offers 3.5 to 4.0 hours per day for 5 days a week (4 days per week at selected locations). Part-Day classes operate morning and afternoon sessions.
- Full-Day Option – offers 6.0 hours or more per day for 5 days a week. This option is designed to meet the needs of families who are working and/or going to school.
Home-Based Option
Services are provided in the home for pregnant mothers and children ages birth to 5 years old. A Home Visitor makes weekly visits to provide comprehensive services in the family’s home. A socialization gathering, conducted twice a month, allows children and families to mutually interact in a school setting and to learn a variety of skills and topics of interest important to the educational development of the child.
